Case study:

The construction of a brand-new facility to replace an existing leisure centre in Bishop’s Stortford with a new facility that reflects modern demands in leisure sector and the need for updated facilities in the area.

The new centre was constructed near to the previous 50-year-old buildings, which were at the end of their working life, to ensure a smooth transfer of sport and leisure services.

The new facility provides an extensive array of wet and dry facilities, whilst enhancing the overall park setting. The new facilities comprise of an eight-lane 25m competition pool, a large teaching pool with movable floor, spectator area with 200+ seats, family changing village and group changing for schools. A confidence pool with interactive water play features will also be included.

In addition to the wet facilities, there is a gym with 130-150 stations including spin studio facilities, two studios, a café and a multi-purpose space. The new facilities also include self-contained football changing facilities and separate dry changing facilities.

Installation of thermal insulation and void-formers for preparation of UFH Installation of rapid and fast drying screeds to all wet and dry areas on the project, including:

Main Pool and Confidence Pool bases.
All Swimming Pool Surrounds.
Changing Areas for Swimming Pools, Football Change and Studio areas.
Main reception, Café and back of house area.

Quartz resin floor finish to main entrance and Café areas.
Polyurethane non-slip epoxy resin floor finish to Pool Viewing Gallery.
Epoxy resin coating to fire escape stairs and treads.

Diverse Screed & Resin were our supply chain partner for the full screed and resin package at Grange Paddocks Leisure Centre, a new build facility in Bishops Stortford. This included screed to all wet and dry areas of the project including changing rooms, shower areas, swimming pool bases and all pool surrounds; this required screed laid to falls and critical levels to maintain the movement of water between and around the three pools. It also included laying new resin floor finishes to the main reception and Cafe areas, and main viewing gallery to the pool areas.
